Our Mission...
At Trenton Wesleyan Church, our mission is to sacrifice more of ourselves, as we serve more effectively, representing Jesus with excellence!
Our Beliefs...
GOD
We believe in the one true God, revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is unimaginably good and unconditionally loving, and His heart is to heal all that is broken in this world He has created.
JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life, embodying God’s love for all people and his power to heal. He gave his life for us on the cross, freeing us to experience new life in Him. Now, He reigns at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us.
HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit equips every believer to live as Christ did. He adopts, empowers, and transforms us, producing the fruit of the Spirit and gifting us to serve others. Through the Spirit, we are transformed by producing the fruit of the Spirit in us, and He gives us spiritual gifts to enable us to meet the needs of a hurting world.
SALVATION
We were created in the image of God to have community with Him and represent Him on earth. However, through a willful act of disobedience, we and the world were broken by sin. Jesus, as the full expression of God, came to bring us life in God through his death and resurrection. Jesus’ sacrifice is the only means of our rescue and the only way to new life & purpose with God. Salvation is freely available for all who will turn from a sinful life and turn to God, accepting the work Christ accomplished and, in doing so, receiving new and eternal life. It is God’s expressed desire for all humanity to be in right relationship with Him to experience the life-changing power of Jesus’ love.
THE BIBLE
Comprised of 66 books authored over thousands of years by dozens of authors, the Bible tells one seamless story: a passionate God on a relentless pursuit to redeem His creation. The Bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God and is trustworthy and reliable for telling us who we are and how to live.
THE CHURCH
The Church is the body of believers who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and walk through life with Him. It exists to glorify God, make disciples, proclaim the good news of Jesus to a lost world, and serve the needs of both the local and global community. The Church is called to act in unity and love, reflecting Christ’s character and mission in every aspect of life.
THE FUTURE
We live in boundless hope, awaiting Jesus’ return. When He comes, He will return to be with his church, to set all things right, and reign eternally as king.
What Makes Us Wesleyan...
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
The Wesleyan Church recognizes that marriage is God’s design for lifelong partnership between one man and one woman. For more on The Wesleyan Church’s stance on marriage and family, visit https://www.wesleyan.org/gso/position-statements.
SACRAMENTS
The Wesleyan Church believes that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the sacraments of the church commanded by Christ and ordained as a means of grace when received through faith. They are outward signs of God’s inward grace, and through them God works within us to quicken, strengthen, and confirm faith. In baptism, we publicly declare our faith in Jesus as our Saviour. In the Lord’s Supper, we remember Christ’s death and our hope in His victorious return, and it serves as a sign of the love Christians have for one another.
SANCTIFICATION
The Wesleyan Church believes that sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit by which the child of God is separated from sin unto God and is enabled to love God with all their heart and to walk in all His holy commandments blameless. It is initiated at the moment of justification and regeneration and progresses as the believer walks with God and daily grows in grace and in a more perfect obedience of God. Through an act of full surrender and sacrificial faith, believers can experience entire sanctification, a deep cleansing of the heart and perfect love for God. It is followed by lifelong growth in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, in a life of holiness expressed through faithful obedience to God.
PERSONAL CHOICE
The Wesleyan Church believes that humanity’s creation in the image of God included the ability to choose between right and wrong, making each of us morally responsible for our decisions. But since the fall of Adam, people are unavle in their own strength to do what is right. Yet through Jesus Christ, the prevenient grace of God makes it possible for all people to respond to Him. This grace enables anyone who chooses to turn to God and be saved.
WOMEN IN MINISTRY
The Wesleyan Church affirms the calling of women to serve fully in ministry and leadership. The Wesleyan Church has experienced the benefits of women exercising spiritual gifts, and we continue to embrace their leadership in all areas.
