Our History

We got our start in 1965. Rev. Dr. James Spearman had served for twenty-two years as founding pastor of Belleville Wesleyan Church just twenty minutes down the road. He had the vision to begin another church here in Trenton.

The current building on Dixon Drive was remodeled from the Four Square Gospel Church. A parsonage was built and the church was dedicated in April 1965.  An unswerving commitment to the Bible gave Trenton Wesleyan its solid foundation in those early years.

Rev. Conrad Stairs came to Trenton Wesleyan in 1973 and was followed by Rev. Dr. Vernon Marples in 1977.  Rev. Brian Carswell joined us in 1991 and continues to serve as Senior Pastor.  Assistant Pastor, Rev. Don McGlashing, joined the staff in 2006.

Trenton Wesleyan has experienced substantial growth.  Back in 1999 we added a second morning worship service.  We recently purchased about nine acres of land on 2nd Dug Hill Road on the west side of Trenton for the purpose of relocation.  Until we get there, we are continuing to find ways to make room for more and fulfill our mission where we are - to love people into the family of God.
